Re-launch of OMV Alpin Diesel

Objectives:
• To re-launch OMV Alpin Diesel, a fuel product with improved features.
• To assert the unique advantage of OMV Alpin Diesel (the only diesel not freezing at temperatures as low as minus 29 degrees)
• To communicate OMV’s trend-setting position on the market
• To communicate OMV’s high quality standards

Challenges:
• Product presentation is not favoured by media for coverage since it is perceived as product advertising.
• OMV Alpin Diesel is not a new product – it was first launched in 2005 – and it is difficult to recapture ‘novelty’.
• OMV Alpin Diesel is a fuel for arctic conditions but the winter of 2006/2007 was relatively warm.
• The features of the fuel are very difficult to visualize and prove to the media and general public.

Results:
• Through the use of scientific testing and experts’ testimonials, extensive countrywide media coverage was obtained over a sustained period, acknowledging OMV as innovators in the industry and OMV Alpin Diesel as the leading brand.
