Promotion of Climbing Team Hellas - Everest 2004

Objectives
• To raise awareness (before, during and after the event) of a privately sponsored athletic team, ‘National Climbing Team Hellas - Everest 2004’, in its bid to conquer the highest peak of the Himalayas.
Challenges
• Climbing is not a very popular activity in Greece,
• No Greek team had ever been successful in its efforts to climb Everest.
• Local and International sports media attention was heavily focussed on the forthcoming Athens 2004 Olympics.
• To establish a daily communications link with the team and the media during the climb.
Results
• Massive public and media interest in the team and its sponsors – who achieved their goal and acquired almost ‘superstar’ status throughout the country.  Over a period of 6 months the team made numerous TV appearances and radio interviews. 362 press reports were generated including many magazine cover features with 6-7 page presentations.

Official Press Office for Posidonia 2004/2005, the world’s largest and most prestigious international shipping exhibition.

Objectives
• To communicate the exhibition’s activities to the national and international media and to achieve maximum attendance and awareness.
• To generate international interest in the event in order to increase participation for the Poseidonia 2006/2007 exhibition.
• To generate interest and attendance from the world media.
Challenges
• To develop a tailor-made program to meet the demanding requirements of this project (accreditation system, online tools, multi-lingual press releases, newsletters, interviews, features, press-conferences, liaison with the maritime authorities).
Results
• Action Hellas brought to the event more than 300 Greek and international journalists, representing the full spectrum of the world’s shipping specialist media, as well as major global news agencies including Reuters, Bloomberg and Dow Jones Newswires.  Their extensive coverage guaranteed a record attendance for the next event, Posidonia 2006, where more than 1.600 exhibitors from 80 countries participated in an area of 26,500 square metres, a new event record and 15% larger than the previous show in 2004.
