Description: Ukraine is the second largest country in Eastern Europe and is a unitary state composed of 24 provinces, one autonomous republic (Crimea), and two cities with special status: Kyiv, its capital, and Sevastopol, which houses the Russian Black Sea Fleet under a leasing agreement. Ukraine borders the Black Sea, between Poland and Belarus to the north, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Moldavia to the west and Russia in the east.


Climate: Mostly temperate continental climate, although a more Mediterranean climate is found on the southern Crimean coast.

Economy: Ukraine is an emerging free market, with a gross domestic product that has experienced rapid growth in recent years. Formerly a major component of the economy of the Soviet Union (both in industry and agriculture), country's economy experienced major recession during the 1990s, including hyperinflation and drastic falls in economic output; GDP growth was first registered in 2000, and reforms are continuing. In 2007 the economy continued to grow and posted real GDP growth of 7%. After 15 years of negotiations, Ukraine was invited to join the World Trade Organization on February 5, 2008. Ukraine ratified the agreements on April 10, 2008.

Nina Sorokopud – Acting Country Manager


Nina Sorokopud joined Action Global Communications Ukraine in April 2007 as Acting Country Manager.

Nina started her career in Communications as International Department Coordinator at PORA youth movement.  In 2005 she was responsible for Media Relations for one of the Eurovision projects in Ukraine.  While working at the Center for Media Technologies, Nina coordinated PR support for several large-scale international conferences in investment and tourism. In 2006 she was invited to develop a communication strategy for InvestUkraine government agency

Nina graduated from Central European University, Budapest, Hungary with an MA in Political Science. She also studied Political Science at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in Kyiv, and International Relations at University of Missouri, St. Louis, USA.
