Tony Christodoulou:

38 years at the helm

TONY CHRISTODOULOU, Founder and Managing Director of Action Global Communications, began his career in the 60s as a communication specialist in London’s burgeoning ‘pop’ industry. He is closely associated with the success of many world famous performers.

In 1971, Tony returned to Cyprus to establish Action Public Relations, the first full-service public relations company in Cyprus and the eastern Mediterranean region. He quickly gained a first-class reputation and a growing list of blue chip international clients, including British Airways, Bayer, Coca Cola, Intercontinental Hotels, Siemens, and Unilever, for which he and his organization have received many prestigious PR awards.  His work with the New Zealand Meat Producers Board earned him the respect and trust of the New Zealand government, which appointed him Honorary Consul for New Zealand in Cyprus. In turn, his sterling work as Consul has earned him an MNZM from HRH Queen Elizabeth II.

Tony expanded his organisation into Greece in 1989, followed swiftly by a network of offices in and around the Middle East. The company, rebranded as Action Global Communications, has since overseen a dynamic expansion over a vast area.  The Action network now operates in over 40 countries in three continents.

Tony Christodoulou is currently based in the company’s headquarters in Cyprus, from where he leads the day-to-day management of the Action global PR network, ensuring it maintains consistently high standards of service throughout Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East, North Africa and the Central Asian Republics.

Lutz Meyer – Global General Manager

Lutz joined Action's Global Management Team in January 2008. During 2006 and 2007, he managed Action's Middle East Operations. The native German looks back to 28 years in international public relations consultancy, which includes various senior international management positions at one of the leading global public relations agencies.

Elis Lefteris – Chief Executive Officer

Elis leads Action’s Global Finance Department. She is a qualified chartered accountant with over 15 years’ experience in commerce and industry. Prior to joining Action, she was the CFO of Ferrero in South Africa. From 1996 to 2007, Elis was the Divisional Head of Finance with a listed blue chip pharmaceutical company in South Africa, where she was responsible for a 60-member team with four direct reports. She completed her articles with Coopers + Lybrand (now PWC). Elis is fluent in English, Greek and Afrikaans.

Kathy Christodoulou – Head of Client Service

After working for Weber Shandwick in their Boston office, Kathy returned to Action Global in 1996. Kathy has played a major role in the development and expansion of the network. Her wealth of experience includes comprehensive account management for network clients, including British Airways, which she has managed for 10 years in 30 countries; OMV, BenQ Siemens, and Goodyear, whose accounts she supervises throughout the Balkans. In her current role as Head of Global Client Services, Kathy manages a team of ten, ensuring that Action’s clients throughout the network receive the same high standard of service.

Chris Christodoulou – General Manager Cyprus

Chris Christodoulou has been the General Manager of Action Cyprus since 2007. He oversees the PR, Publishing and Advertising sales units. Prior to assuming the General Manager position, Chris supervised the production of all Action publications as the agency’s Publishing and Media Coordinator. He began his career at Action in 2001 as a Sales Executive. Chris came to Action from Dow Jones in London, where he worked in the International Research department and as a Sales Manager. He graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 1998.

Chris Lazarides – IT Manager

Chris joined Action’s Global Management Team in April 2005. He is responsible for the central management of IT for the entire Action Global network. Chris brings 10 years of IT experience to the company, and makes sure Action’s software, hardware and telecommunications systems are harmonized. Born in South Africa to Greek Cypriot parents, Chris started his career as a Systems Configurations Specialist in the banking sector. He moved to Cyprus in 2001, where he worked in IT and as an IT manager in the retail industry.

Aideen Doherty – Client Service Director

Aideen joined Action’s Global Client Service Team in September 2007 having previously spent years working in primarily consumer and corporate PR in Dublin. Originally from Ireland, she holds a BA in English and an MA in PR. She currently directs a major global account at Action, Boehringer Ingelheim across CEE markets.

Kathia Timotheou – HR Manager

Kathia joined the Cyprus team in January 2007 after moving to Cyprus from the US.  Originally from Brazil, Kathia worked extensively in the US as a Human Resources coordinator in the hotel industry. She is responsible for the implementation of all HR processes and procedures in Cyprus and in many network offices.

Stephen Davies – Consultant for Digital & Social Media PR

Stephen Davies is a digital and social media PR specialist and consultant for Action Global Communications. He is also the founder of 3wpr.co.uk, a UK-based online PR consultancy that he set up after working for the world’s largest independent PR firm, Edelman, and leading UK consumer agency, Frank PR. In both roles he focused specifically on online communication and worked on a range of national and multinational brands. His online communications and technology blog – www.prblogger.com – has been recognised by industry professionals around the world and has recently been named ‘Europe’s number one PR blog’ according to US marketing publication, Advertising Age. In 2009 he was added to PR Week's Power Book – that claims to include the top 1% most powerful and inspirational UK PR people. He is a frequent speaker on the conference circuit and speaks regularly at events around the UK and Europe.
